position overview

As the Design Associate you will be responsible for creating and maintaining all CADs with clear design intent to create beautiful products. You will support the Director of Product alongside the Creative Director to ensure the minnow aesthetic and quality is achieved in each product. This position will own the consistency and optimization of each style through detailed technical drawings. You will support the Director of Product in the day-to-day operations of the product department to ensure calendar deadlines are met.

responsibilities

  • Manage concept & development CADs, linesheets, print edits
  • Responsible for assisting Creative Director and Director of Product with research, concepting, line development, internal communication charts, digital libraries.
  • Participate in fittings through keen note taking; ensuring all design revisions are executed on the following sample in partnership with Technical Designer to capture design intent.
  • Assistance with execution of tech packs, presentation setups, and inspiration decks for cross-functional use.
  • Daily partnership with print strike offs and fabric development/exploration.
  • Daily communication with external partners.
  • Ensure that product is consistent with minnow as well as business strategy.
  • Manage internal library of color swatches, prints, and product inspiration samples.
  • Continuously research trend, color, and mood direction relevant in the market to bring new developments and ideas to the brand.

candidate profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design is preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience.
  • Strong sense of design, color, with an acute focus to detail.
  • Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color use, sewing techniques, graphics and trim.
  • Understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment.
  • Skills: Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word); Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, ability to work in a team environment, self-starter and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work quickly to manage their time effectively to meet tight deadlines.
  • Print editing is required, print creation is preferred.
  • BOM creation/management.
  • Articulating design intention/details to Technical Designer to create TP.
  • CAD creation for linesheets & technical drawings with clear detailed descriptions of workmanship, trims, materials, construction callouts, stitch detail, etc.
